I met him again a few months later during the Ati-Atihan in Kalibo. It seems, that like me, he enjoys the festivals. Definitely not your usual cigarette vendor.

Regular visitors of my blog know that a lot of people smile in my pictures. Filipinos are indeed happy and friendly people. Always ready to smile, laugh or crack a joke even in times of hardship and adversity.

But I need to say that Bacolod deserves its title of “City of Smiles”. It is a place where total strangers offer you their most beautiful smiles. They don’t do this only in front of a camera. It just seems that everybody you encounter in this city smiles at you. It gives you indeed a warm feeling… and that might explain why I fell in love with the Philippines.
